There's a Buddhist temple in our area. Selby heard people perform Tai Chi exercise there every morning. So, she got curious and went to see the Tai Chi exercise.

What a nice surprise for her to see there were dogs in the temple.

They welcomed Selby with friendly gestures.

There's also another dog named Bruno. He is still a puppy, just less than 5 months old.

Guess what? The name of this dog is Shelly... Sounds like Selby, right? *wiggles*

Without any hesitation, Shelly just walked around the people who were doing the exercise.

She stopped at this man, started to sniff.. and sniff....

Then walked away...

Shelly decided to go to a female monk for a nice pat.

Sorry for not updating our blog for such a long time because at the moment, Selby is attending a summer camp in America.

Anyway yesterday, Selby had her free time and went to a mall. While wandering at the mall, she saw a little puppy in a glass box for sale. It's interesting to see the way of how the pet shop is "advertising" the puppy that cost USD 50.

A Harness

Selby bought a harness for Vincent because she would like to walk around with him in the neighborhood. It's totally new for Vincent. He isn't use to a harness or leash, thus he tries to bite the harness off and doesn't want to move at all, acting like a statue.

Can anyone suggest how to teach Vincent to walk with a harness?

Boogie Woogie is still on the garden roof with (uhmm.. we have no idea whether Boogie Woogie is a he or a she)its sibling. Supposedly they are total of 4 but lately, we only see 2 of them.

Good News

Hi, this is Selby...

There's a couple of not good news that happened today.

Bella is sick and right now she is in quarantine for a night.

Since this noon, suddenly Bella looked not well, her tail was down with her body trembling most of the time. Good thing that she still could eat her lunch a little. Thus, this afternoon, I brought her to our veterinarian. According to the veterinarian, Bella's temperature is quite high and there might be an infection inside her. Bella got an antibiotic injection and some medicine. Hopefully, Bella will get well soon.
When we stepped inside the house, I saw my mom in tears. She was holding something in her hand. It's a kitten! Mom told me that Menet - the cat that likes to visit us on my mom's roof garden - has 4 kittens and sometimes, she brings her kitten to the roof garden. Not so sure how, but this one kitten felt down to our porch and cried. Adele directly ran out to the porch and attacked it. The kitten almost died when my mom found and helped from Adele's attack.

Right now, we are going to take care this kitten. We already named this kitten - Boogie Woogie. Whenever one of us is talking to him, he will look directly to our eyes, giving a look that he understand what we are saying to him.
Oh... by the way, Adele is showing a gesture that she is sorry for what she has done to Boogie Woogie and she is already in her bed now.

Ancol Beach - North Jakarta

Yesterday morning, Selby went with our neighbors for a morning walk on the Ancol beach, located in the North of Jakarta.
Good thing that she brought her digital camera along with her so she can share some pictures with us here.

Sunglasses only for US 1 (one dollar) per pair!!! Whoaaaa... that's really cheap!
It's really surprising that there are many people bringing their dogs walking in Ancol. Ah... how we wish that Selby can bring us there someday, it must be really fun.... *wiggles*

It's already rambutan season! Rambutan (means literally hairy) is tropical fruit grown widely in Southeast Asia countries. It's very juicy and has seed inside it, tasted quite like lychee or longan.

Grandma has bought lots of rambutan and we love eating it!

We really need to be patient until grandma has finish opened it all.

But then....
Grandma, I can't wait any longer... maybe I should start by eating the rambutan's leaves first!

Selby gave us a very delicious lunch, then her friend gave us a present... 1,2 kgs of crackers! Thank you, auntie Rosa!

Grandma's friend also was so nice, she made a special call for wishing a wonderful birthday to us.

Today, in order to celebrate my kids' birthday, Selby is sharing the love by distributing lunch boxes to some neighbors who love dogs too.

This afternoon, Bella has been throwing up for more than 10 times in less than 2 hours. So, Selby brought Bella directly to the Vet. The Vet said that Bella should do "fasting" for 24 hours to let the "poison" out from her stomach and it's OK if she wants to chew some grass in the garden.

Bella looks so tired and scared.

2 days ago, Selby was walking in the neighborhood, then she saw 3 stray cats and a stray kitten at the cement trash bin.

The 2 stray cats that look alike (are they twins?) were enjoying the day and the other was busy digging the trash.

And as for the kitten.... *speechless*

Btw, we found out that today is the World Cat Day, therefor we would like to wish "Happy World Cat Day" to every cats out there!

Well, I think I want to share about 7 things of my beloved children, Vincent & Bella:

1. My boy - Vincent, is named after the famous Dutch post-impressionist artist named Vincent van Gogh. When I was pregnant, Selby loved to listen to the "Starry, starry night" which is a song of comparison lyrics to Van Gogh's actual life. It's a beautiful song.

2. As for Bella, her name was a suggestion from Selby's ex-colleague. We discussed it together with Selby's mom and she really loves with the name because not only it sounds sweet and cute but also, it means beautiful in Italian and besides, her friend's daughter name is also Bella, and she is beautiful and famous actress in Indonesia.

3. People always say that they share and give their love for their kids equally but honestly, I give more my attention to Vincent (Deep down in our heart, don't we all have our favorite one?). It started when Vincent was a "toddler", he was so quite and shy, most of the time just observing, totally not active nor energetic like Bella. Whenever, there are guests in our house, they always prefer Bella to Vincent (even until today), probably because Bella looks more attractive since she is tiny, cute and also has those huge ears (I still wonder where does she got those ears from, not from me, I think! BOL). As a mother, I feel it's my responsibility to teach Vincent to be more lively. I also notice that Selby has more feeling toward Vincent because he is just the sweetest boy with a very soft kind heart.

4. I think my hard work to make Vincent lively has been paid off, he becomes a very energetic boy and at the other hand, Bella becomes a shy and timid girl especially to strangers but she can be pretty loud to Vincent and me, especially when she gets jealous.

5. Bella loves to hide under the TV rack or behind the curtain. It's quite difficult to call her out from her hiding places. Yeah... She is an introvert girl now.

6. I understand that Selby and her mom have been trying their best to train my kids to do their "business" outside the house and they are now already 8 months old (anyone knows how old it is in human age?) but sometimes, they still do it inside the house. Well, more precisely is Bella the one who likes to do her "business" inside the house. Actually, the door house is always open so we walk- in inside to the house and walk-out to the garden easily. Any suggestion or advice how to teach my kids?

7. Although the daddy of my kids - Bourbon, has left me (blame the owner!) for good and already has a new wife named Vodka, but I'm so proud as a single mother. Vincent and Bella are the most precious ones in my life. I feel so blessed for their love especially when they lick me on my ears and eyes. Their love have made me stronger and stronger each day.

A Monkey Dancer

Last night when Selby came home, she told us that she saw 4 men and a little monkey dressed with pink outfit on the street.

They stopped directly across where Selby was standing and started to let the monkey to do a performance. 2 men were in charge to play "music" ( hitting small drums), 1 man handled the monkey by pulling and pushing with a long chain then the other man started to walk around with a bowl in order to beg for some money from the people who were watching.

The performance called “Doger monyet” and has been performed more than 100 years in West Java, Indonesia.

Doger (in Sundanese - West Java language) means a female dancer; usually in a people's theater, and Monyet (in Indonesian language) means monkey.

Selby said that when she watched the performance, it really broke her heart because she felt so sorry for this little monkey that must work for these 4 healthy men.

Selby donated some money but she had a feeling that the monkey might not receive her "right" of the income share. Just imagine, how much money actually would be earned everyday from this kind of performance, not much that's for sure and need to be divided to those 4 men for their living.

Good thing, Selby saw bananas at a street vendor, so she gave a banana to the monkey.

Look how the little monkey enjoyed her banana. The monkey must be feeling very hungry *sobs*

Selby wished that she could give the little monkey a hug or at least a pat on her head.

Listening to Selby's story about the monkey, we all hope the best for the little monkey and also for all those monkeys out there that are performing "Doger Monyet" for their lives.

We don't know her real name because she has never introduced herself thus grandma always called her as "Menet", because according to grandma, she looks exactly like her grandpa's cat named Menet.

And... thinking about the age of grandma's grandpa, we wonder how old he is going to be and also his cat if they are still alive (fyi, our grandma is already over 70 years old), BOL

Vincent's Grandma had made an appointment at the Veterinarian for Vincent last week but the Vet was so busy that she rescheduled it to this week. Thus, this early morning, as being scheduled, Vincent had his surgery. He was so brave and happy when I brought him to the Vet. Very proud of Vincent :)

The surgery procedure. It's pretty fast, it took less than 15 minutes.

As soon as the surgery was done, I directly brought Vincent back home. For the first 30 minutes after the surgery, Vincent looked kinda dizzy and weak. He even vomited when he started to try to walk. I got pretty worried but.... after an hour later, Vincent is healthy back as normal as if nothing has happened to him, Good boy, Vincent! :)

Anyway, despite on what's badly happened to Selby, I feel so blessed today because I received a parcel! Yes, my first parcel! Can you believe it? Suzuki sent this wonderful toy pressies from Australia to Indonesia! Isn't that so sweet of her? And guess what? It also cheered Selby up plus brought her a big smile on her face. Remember Bourbon - the pomerian dog which I took care last time for 10 days in my house?

Well, I forgot to tell that Bourbon "raped" Adele. No need a genius to figure it out what would happened after that....

Yesterday, exactly 65 days, with the veterinarian's help near our house, Adele gave birth to 2 wonderful puppies :)

Mom has been a great helper for Adele. She really takes good care of Adele. Love you, Mom!!! Love you, Adele!!!

During last Idul Fitri holiday, I took care a pomerian dog of my mom's cousin for 10 days. The little dog name is Bourbon. Well, Adele was quite happy with Bourbon around although sometimes, she got pretty jealous of Bourbon.

Adele is already 2 months with me. She really brings joy although she can be very naughty and loud like Lulu.

Adele loves fruits very much. She eats all kind of fruits, even the fruit with sour flavour like soursop, starfruit, and strawberries. I wonder whether she gonna love durian like my previous minipincher.

A yucky thing about Adele, she is an underwear fettish! Seriously! Everyday, she will try her best to steal underwears from the bathroom. Shame on you, Adele!!! :P

This morning, mom got a little puppy from her friend. It’s a dapple daschund/sausage dog with 3 kind colors of dots on her body; brown, grey and a bit black. Her name is Adelia but we called her Adele. She just turned to be 3 months old.

Unbelievable, Adele has the same characteristic as Lulu, so full of energy. She runs here and there non-stop. Her barking sounds quite loud for a puppy such her age.

Lulu is very happy to have a little sister to play with. She just can not stay away from Adel.

Today is Lulu’s birthday. She’s been with me for 9 months already. What a big gal she is now but still unimaginable naughty. Just 2 nights ago, she broke a bottle of plant medicine which caused the whole house smelled so badly the whole night. Please do not be deceived by her cute innocent face.

It's just happened in the last one hour! Again, Lulu made a big mess although this time, it was not as bad as 2 weeks ago where we had to hire a person to clean all the mess that Lulu had created (she played with soil and dung all over the porch). It took almost 2 hours to scrub the floor, too bad, I didn't take any pictures during that time.
Looks like that pretty soon, mom and I will give up on Lulu *big sigh*

Lulu is now almost 5 months old. She is a very hyperactive dog; it’s even difficult to cuddle her because she can not stop moving, biting, scratching and jumping.

Lulu is almost 1 month with me.
She has been growing a few inches more and she is showing the posture of a mini pincher.
She barks very seldom even when there’s a stranger.
She already understands the words: sit, fot (shake hand), ball, raus (out).
She can be very naughty because she likes to bite stuff especially sandals and people’s hands although she is having those kind of artificial bones.
Sometimes she is still doing her “big & small business” inside the house. This is a challenge for my mom and me to train her.

I was on my way home when I stopped by at a veterinarian near my house to see on the white board whether there’s mini pincher for sale. Mom and I have been looking for mini pincher all this time.

This time, I guess I was lucky when I read on a small note “A mixed mini pincher puppy to be given free (only need to pay for the vaccination that has been paid for the puppy), please call 566-xxxx, Ibu Hambali.”

As soon as I reached home, I told my mom about the note. Directly my mom called this lady and she told my mom to meet her with the puppy at the veterinarian in 15 minutes.

Mom and I went to the veterinarian. We waited for about more than 20 minutes. Finally, the lady and the puppy arrived.

Oh… so cute, and totally this is not a mini pincher!!! Well, it’s ok… I fall in love directly with this little puppy and her melancholy face.
